Warp in to starbase under attack, I see their torpedoes hitting the base but I don't see the ships, they don't appear in targetting either. How can I defend the base if I can't see the ships?

Because those pesky Lans-Trinzini are bombarding the starbase from the neighboring sectors!  They don't actually jump into the starbase's sector until it is destroyed (yes, they are cowards).

To stop them you need to jump to one of the neighboring sectors and take them out there.  I usually pick a group with only two ships so I can get the job done before the base goes down!

Awww - would be cool if they actually attack the starbase... like in Star Raiders, the aliens were really there shooting at the base, at least that is how I remember it... too bad my atari is in my parents closet 3000 miles away so I can't verify this, but I'm pretty sure about it.

Nope -- you never saw the enemies shooting up the base in Star Raiders.  It just blew up!   Smiley

If your computer is that far away and you want to run old Atari 8-bit software, including all the stuff we did at ANALOG, go check out the Atari800Win emulator for Windows at this link.  It's in Polish, but click on the little British flag for an English verion of the page.  If you search around the Net you can find ROM images of all the old Atari games.  A good tutorial for setting up the emulator is at this link.
